Reckless driver caused an accident after attempting to elude police
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Two individuals were hurt in an accident in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday as a reckless motorist tried to elude authorities.
At around three in the afternoon, an Iowa State Trooper saw David Blauer driving in excess of the posted speed limit and going through a prohibited area on 16th Avenue.
The trooper tried to pull Blauer over, but he fled in an eastbound direction on 16th Avenue.
At the junction of 16th and Wiley Blvd., Blauer ran a red light and was responsible for an accident that included another vehicle.
Both Blauer and the woman he struck, who was 72 years old, had injuries that required treatment at local hospitals.
