Anamosa man arrested after 30-minute chase with Linn County authorities
An Anamosa man has been arrested after leading Linn County authorities on a 30-minute car chase.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says it happened Thursday, January 28th at 1:45 a.m. A deputy tried to stop a white Pontiac Montana van for erratic driving in the area of 34th St and Iowa Ave. SE in Cedar Rapids.
The van stopped but then took off after the deputy left his patrol car, leading authorities on a chase. The driver went to Mount Vernon Rd, and continued east out of town with speeds of 110 mph. As the driver neared the town of Mount Vernon, he turned northeast onto a gravel road.
Tire deflation devices were deployed successfully on the vehicle twice during the chase. The driver eventually stopped at Secrist Rd and Cory Rd.
Authorities were able to arrest 24-year-old Corydon Strickell of Anamosa. He was charged with attempting to elude, driving with a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and multiple traffic offenses.
There were no injuries reported.
