Apartment fire in Cedar Rapids displaces occupants
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – A fire on Wednesday morning caused significant damage in an apartment building on southeast side of Cedar Rapids.
The Cedar Rapids Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 1407 Third Avenue SE around 7:39 a.m. Upon arrival, fire crews noticed smoke exiting from a first-floor unit in the building. Firefighters first got ensured that all residents are out of the building safe and then extinguished the fire.
According to officials, no injuries were reported in the fire and as the building sustained major damage, occupants were displaced.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
