Foundation established in honor of two killed Anamosa State Penitentiary workers held a fundraiser
Anamosa, Iowa – An event to generate money for scholarships was hosted on Saturday by a foundation that was established in honor of Lorna Schulte and Robert McFarland, who were both murdered in the Anamosa State Penitentiary the previous year.
In order to raise money for the scholarships, the event included both a live auction and a silent auction, as well as a golf competition and a ribeye steak sandwich dinner.
The funds that were raised will be used to provide two students each with a scholarship of $500. One scholarship will be awarded to a student who is pursuing a career in law enforcement, while the other will be presented to a student who is planning to pursue a career in nursing. Organizers say that they hope these scholarships will carry on their spirit.
The event’s organizers are looking forward to doing it once again the following year.
