May 18: No new COVID-19-related deaths reported in last 24 hours
DES MOINES, Iowa — New data from the Iowa Department of Public Health shows an additional 196 positive cases of COVID-19 in the state from 10:00 a.m. May 17 to 10:00 a.m. May 18.
A total of 369,637 people in Iowa have now tested positive for COVID-19 since the coronavirus pandemic began.
The seven-day rolling positive test average is at 2.8% in the state.
No new COVID-19-related deaths have been reported, keeping the state’s death total at 6,006.
An additional 3,857 people in Iowan have been fully vaccinated against the virus for a total of 1,269,467.
Iowa has administered 2,614,185 total doses of the vaccine.
The total number of hospitalizations in Iowa increased by five to 142. There are 40 patients in ICU.
